We were approached by Michael Baker and the team from the Cardiac Lab Unit at Southampton General Hospital. They need to raise funds to make improvements!
The Cardiac Catheter Labs at University Hospital Southampton provides a range of services for all ages of patients ranging from babies that are a couple of days old to adults in their eighties and nineties. We cover the South Coast of the United Kingdom which includes the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands and as part of the Oxford and Southampton Network we also look after patients as far as Berkshire, Oxford, Northampton and Milton Keynes. The Cardiac Catheter Lab Unit comprises of a reception and recovery area and four labs that provide services from Paediatric diagnostic and interventional catheters, emergency Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Electrophysiology study and insertion of Permanent Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD’s).
The Cardiac Catheter Lab Unit is set up for adult patients and is not a very child friendly environment. We are hoping to create a new and exciting paediatric reception and recovery area within the department, with the aim to make a scary environment fun to be in and enhance the children’s experience during their stay. We understand that this can be both a frightening and anxious time for children and their families, so would like to make this area bright and colourful and provide entertainment to distract them. It also needs to be functional for both children and young adults with congenital heart conditions.
We need to raise around £800 to £1000 to create a designated paediatric reception and recovery area for children and young adults to use both pre and post procedure. The money will be used to decorate and provide equipment like a Television and DVD player, DVD’s, toys, books and sensory equipment to make the area a more welcoming and safe environment.
So we have donated £1,000.00 to give them a real kick start to the fund raising process!

It has come round again! Yes its our annual Toy Donation to Southampton Children’s Ocean Ward, over the last few years this is one definitely one of our most favourite tasks. It’s hard to believe that another year has passed! After our donation last year it really made us realise just how lucky we all are. We here at Parkview Retail Ltd cannot think of a better way to spend £600.
