Toy Donations to Southampton Children’s Ocean Ward
It’s hard to believe that another year has passed! However it does mark our annual Toy Donation to Southampton Children’s Cardiac Services. After our donation last year it really made us realise just how lucky we all are. We here at Parkview Retail Ltd cannot think of a better way to spend £650.
Having been given the big tour of the Ocean Ward, I have to say it is an amazing place to visit run by a group of very hard working staff. The bright and welcoming environment has been carefully designed to put children at ease, and includes beds, quiet rooms and kitchen facilities for parents to stay with their children during these crucial times. Anyone with children knows how important this is, to stay close to your sick child, just to be close.
Needless to say, the children make good use of any games and toys to help while away the time and keep them positive. Children on the ward accumulate gold stars for their participation in hospital procedures; anything from blood tests to operations. After a certain number of stars, the children can choose a new toy to play with and eventually take home with them.
